LEXINGTON COUNTY FIRE FIGHTERS ARE “FIRED UP” TO HELP MDA
On Saturday, August 23rd, 2008 Fire Fighters participated in a fundraiser called “Fill-the-Boot” to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Fire fighters were at eight major intersections with their boots so that motorists may give their dollars and change to help fire fighters in their support of MDA. Last year during the “Fill-the-Boot” program, Lexington fire fighters raised over $7,000.00for area children and adults battling neuromuscular disorders and this year they more than doubled that by raising over $17,000!
MDA is a voluntary health agency working to defeat more than 40 neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive services and far-reaching professional and public health education/ The Association’s programs are funded almost entirely be private contributions and are offered to those served by the MDA at no charge.
